On our journey to Net Zero, precise, granular emissions data is really helpful to Aesop —because before we can act, we need to know what to focus on. Working with Travelperk has enabled us to understand our travel emission hotspots much better and map out the changes we can make that will have the biggest impact.

Carbon Offset Volume: 2,011 tonnes CO2e
The conservation project has a holistic approach with four direct interventions:

Biochar
Region: USA
In a nutshell: Biochar, produced from waste biomass through pyrolysis, captures and stores carbon that would otherwise be released through burning or decomposition.
Carbon Removal Volume: 398 tonnes CO2e
The main beneficial consequences of this property are:
- Improved water retention and therefore reducing crop exposure to droughts
- Reduced need for nitrogen fertilisers (as less nitrogen is lost from field). This also means reduced nitrogen pollution and reduced emissions of nitrous oxide, another potent greenhouse gas.
- Helping build-up soil organic carbon content, meaning there is additional carbon removal and fertility improvement.

Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to become part of GreenPerk?
Once you’ve opted in to GreenPerk, you’ll be charged per trip taken. GreenPerk has a fixed price per ton of CO₂ of €10 (charged per your local currency).
Prices per trip will depend on your travel choices (for example, trains emit less CO₂ than planes). On average, the price is 1% of the total trip cost to offset 100% of the carbon emissions. This average has been calculated based on a flight from London to Barcelona, including a two-night stay in a standard hotel.
Will I be charged per booking or per trip?
You’ll be charged per trip taken for every tonne of CO₂ your travel emits.
How can I keep track of the CO2 emissions?
You can monitor all your CO2 emissions by accessing the CO2 reporting page within the TK platform.
Do you offset carbon emissions from air travel only?
No, GreenPerk offsets the carbon emissions for all of your business travel across – air, rail, car & hotel.
Can I opt out of GreenPerk?
Yes, you can opt out of GreenPerk once every quarter.
How do you calculate the price of carbon?
The short answer to this is that the quality of the projects that are being invested in plays a big role on the price. Prices can fluctuate based on region, market conditions, and the certification programme.
Can I get a certificate attesting to my company’s participation in the programme?
Every customer who is part of GreenPerk will receive a certificate and badge to show that they are part of our offsetting programme. However, this is not an official document.
Are carbon credits tax deductible?
Currently, contributions to GreenPerk may be tax-deductible. Please consult with a tax advisor to make sure that your local tax regulations permit deductions from contributions to Corporate Income Tax.
How does TravelPerk calculate the carbon footprint for travel?
We calculate the carbon footprint using our in-house tool GreenPerk API. All footprint calculations comply with the standard set by the World Resource Institute: GHG Protocol for Corporate Accounting.
