Thank you to everyone that took part in the survey we promoted in our July E-Positive Pressure. See some of your thoughts here:

We had a really good responses and these are some of the highlights:

Age – the majority of respondents were aged 45 – 75+, with 50% being 75 or over.

Location – of those who responded, 45% lived in London with 15% of respondents in Scotland. The rest were spread out across the rest of England and Wales, but sadly we had no respondents from Northern Ireland.

Ethnicity – 95% of those that took part identified as White British, so work for us as a Charity to do in reaching more people from different ethnic backgrounds to hear their views.

How did you find out about Blood Pressure UK?

  • 10% news articles
  • 5% through our E-Newsletter
  • 5 % through a GP/Pharmacist
  • 5% through our leaflets
  • 5% through KYN Week
  • 5% through social media.

Information about our paying members that took part

  • 63% had been a member for 5 years plus
  • 79% for 4 – 5 years
  • 26% between 3 – 4 years
  • 53% 1 – 2 years
  • 79% for less than a year.

The main benefits to people of being a member of Blood Pressure UK were:

  • 37% informative website
  • 84% knowing how important it is to check your blood pressure and what the numbers mean
  • 84% E-Newsletter
  • 58% help and advice
  • 5% informative leaflets
  • 79% gaining the confidence to monitor their blood pressure at home.

What areas of blood pressure UK are of most interest to you?

  • 5% advice about diet in reducing high blood pressure
  • 5% advice about exercise in reducing high blood pressure
  • 45% age related articles
  • 5% your experience of treatment, such as whether you have enough support from us or your health professional to manage side effects
  • 5% helping to reach more people unaware they have high blood pressure
  • 5% interest in feeding back on language BPUK and health professionals use to explain things, and that they are easy to understand
  • 20% getting involved in research
  • 15% videos from experts
  • 15% know how I can support BPUK and spread the word.
